I enjoy shopping for clothes; but a friend recently described my style as being “safe” “boring” and “preppy”. This made me take a critical look at my wardrobe – and what I found were multiples of the same items, albeit in different colours; and with that a realisation that my friend was right.  This is when I approached John Stolen for a personal stylist session. The session started off with an open chat over a coffee about my personality, current look and the reasons why I wanted a style change; he helped me think about my personal style in relation to the image I wanted to project. We then went to a few stores and boutiques in NYC, where John selected a number of items for me to try on. John was really patient with my obstinacy about what I wouldn't wear; but, he also gently pushed me into trying on some new things. The session was very cathartic and I felt relieved and satisfied after we had finished. With John’s expert guidance, I've managed to expand my range of styles particularly with regards to shirts and pants; and I now have a much more varied and exciting wardrobe. I would not only use the services of John again but would also recommend him to friends as he has changed the way I think about myself and what I wear.

I really appreciate that John listens to what I want, and selects items that fit my style. His knowledge of brands has proved invaluable - he knows my usual sizing, but also knows that which brands run larger or smaller, and can send me into the fitting room with the appropriate size. I don't particularly enjoy shopping, but John makes it easy and painless. I feel like the best dressed version of myself every day!
